November 2006

Hello ~

As Thanksgiving grows near, it’s time for us to reflect and give thanks to God for the many blessings in
our lives.  Since our last newsletter, we have been humbled by the positive responses to Elizabeth’s
paintings.

Just last week, Elizabeth received news that she has been accepted as a finalist in the 2007-2009
Blossom ~ Art of Flowers Competition, Museum Exhibition and subsequent national museum tour.

BLOSSOM ~ ART OF FLOWERS received 1,742 entries representing 970 artists from 14 countries and
Elizabeth has the honor of being one of the 50 finalists!  Her painting, “Shadow Play” will be viewable
by the public at The Houston Museum of Natural Science in Texas from Saturday, March 17, 2007
through May 20, 2007.   “Shadow Play” will then tour the United States until December 2009!  We will
publish the schedule as soon as it is released to us.  Check it out at www.susankblackfoundation.org.

We are VERY thankful!

If you haven’t had an opportunity to look at our website, yet, please do.
www.intocreation.com

Susan’s husband Scott has spent countless hours creating and maintaining the site for us ~ it must be
out of love, because it certainly isn’t for the pay!  Our families have overwhelmed us with support and
encouragement.

We are VERY thankful!

As we mentioned in our last newsletter, Elizabeth is participating in a web-based art competition called
“Art Face Off”.  It would be very helpful if you go to the site, register, and then rank each one of
Elizabeth’s paintings.  There is a link to this fun and unique site on our website or you can go to www.
artfaceoff.com, click on “join now”, then “search artists” and enter the keyword “von” – Elizabeth’s page
will be listed in the search results.  You may vote without “joining”, but your vote won’t count as much.
Even if you have been there before, you will be amazed at how it has caught on with the art
community!  When Elizabeth joined there were only about four pages of artists and now there are 98
pages!  The last time we checked, Elizabeth ranked 56 among all those artists.

We are VERY thankful!

We have responded to the many requests we have received from you, our friends and family, and are
now pleased to offer note cards featuring five different images of Elizabeth’s paintings.  They are
currently “in production” and we hope to have them available to you right after Thanksgiving.

They will come in a package of 10 (two each of five different images) for only $15.00.  To order, just
let Elizabeth or Susan know how many packages you would like either in person, by phone or e-mail.

We are VERY thankful!

Upcoming events:
February 11-23, 2007, there will be a solo exhibition of Elizabeth’s paintings in the Little Gallery at
the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun.  We will send you an invitation to the artist reception as we get
closer to this event.

March 2007, we hope to have Elizabeth’s paintings displayed in The Coffee House located at 7125 E.
Tanque Verde.  Sara Mills and James McDermott are the owners of this great coffee shop which
features organically grown coffee.  They have been featuring local artists in The Coffee House since
October.

Northern Trust Bank will host a solo exhibition and reception for Elizabeth in the summer of 2007 (date
of the reception to be determined).  Her original paintings will be displayed from June though August
through out Northern Trust Bank’s impressive lobby.  You will be receiving an invitation from Northern
Trust Bank to attend the reception.

We are VERY thankful!

If you would like to see some of Elizabeth’s paintings in person, she has six paintings displayed (for sale)
at Spice Bistro, 10235 N. La Canada Drive, Oro Valley and two at J&R Framing Gallery, 6460 N.
Oracle Road.  The painting “Into the Deep”, which is displayed (for sale) at J&R Framing Gallery, was
awarded “People’s Choice Award” in the Greater Oro Valley Arts Council’s fifth annual contest this past
July.  J&R Framing Gallery is also framing “Shadow Play” for the Blossom ~ Art of Flowers competition.

We are VERY thankful!

As we approach Thanksgiving Day, Christmas and the Holiday season, may you all enjoy good health,
cherished traditions with your family and friends, and some quiet time to look more deeply into
creation…

Warmly,
Elizabeth & Susan
